Happy Birthday Buck!

Every day we celebrate the life of a great man and American – Buck O’Neil.

Today though is very special as the father of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum was born on this day in 1911.

Hi Buck, Happy Birthday to you! You are and always will be remembered as the magnificent role model for all men (of all color) throughtout the world. Thank you for allowing me a glimpse of who you were, and as all of the unsong Heroes of the Negro Leagues. I am a white Cuban male, age 58 years old. Thank you for your wonderful rendition of “Take me out to the ballgame”. I will always keep that song in my heart. I will pray that all of us can put our heads together and figure out that if we all played sports together, there will be no time for war, pain or death. Hey Buck, please make sure that when my time comes to pay you a visit, you have your glove ready (Satchell who?). Good Night and Peace, my Brother. Your Brother, Jose Vidal Maseda.
